Greatly Concerned
Greetings Shellbacks! Tonight I blog about a topic that Rose brought to my attention while we were on a bus together at con this weekend.
So with the launch of tmnt25.com comes this contest... A contest which features the original two-issue Gobbledygook as its grand prize...For those of you who don't know, Gobbledygook was the mirage comic that pre-dates...well...everything. These books are the holy grail of holy grails for some of us collectors. When these things pop up on ebay they go for thousands (even the ones that we are pretty sure are fakes). Sounds great right? Yeah...not so much...
You see, this contest is open to anyone...ANYONE. From the 4 year old down the block , to your grandmother. So the chances of these books ending up in the hands of someone who will actually love and treasure them for what they are...is pretty slim. Chances are, these books will either end up on ebay, or destroyed by a child.
Frankly, I would much rather see a copy of ninja turtles #1 as the grand prize. It is still a book worth hundreds to thousands (in the right condition), and it wouldn't make me die a little inside if it got used to make confetti.

Alien Hunter Mike Prototype
My first New Movie line prototype came in the mail today. As you probably know, I have a slew of prototypes at various stages from various turtles series. However, I had yet to get one from the newest series...till today!
Remember how I was bitching about how Playmates outsources all their work to Korea? Well guess where this little guy shipped from? You guessed it! Korea! Anyway, while I am admittedly not at all thrilled with most of this series, at least now I can say I've got a prototype from it. :-)

Thanks to my intensely cool friend and colleague Sanders, I will be attending this year after all. Take THAT comic-con!

TMNT Treasures: Post 5 - Giant Splinter
Haven't done a Treasures post in awhile...This is one I actually just picked up. Brand new to me...but definitely Treasure status.
Without any further ado, I give you KARATE TURTLES MASTER! Or more affectionately known as "Giant Splinter".
As you can probably tell by the packaging, he is a bootleg. One of the most rare. If It wasn't for the Our Friends Power 5 Robot (Which I will do a Treasures post on in the near future) I'd say giant splinter was the rarest bootleg out there. If it wasn't for the sharp eagle eye of Vaughn Michael, I would have missed this opportunity, so a huge thank you to him.
This Splinter is in the same scale as the Giant Turtles that were officially released by Playmates. Easily my favorite bootleg...Playmates really should have done one of these!
Alas, this little gem is not quite yet in my possession. He is in the mail! But I will take a picture of him next to a standard Splinter for scale when he arrives! Hope you enjoyed this addition of Treasures!
